Controlling blood glucose is essential for people with any type of diabetes to reduce the risk of complications and improve quality of life. Insulin pump therapy technologies have advanced significantly in the past 20 years to make optimized glycemic control easier for patients of any age. The scope of this education activity will address the physiologic effects of different types of diabetes and the means of controlling diabetes to protect a person from diabetic complications and provide quality of life through treatment support. The different options, advancing technologies, and access concerns for insulin pump therapy currently available will also be addressed.
