Description
Early mobilization is a key component for optimizing patient outcomes in the ICU. A standardized progressive mobility protocol provides an outline to develop and implement evidence-based interventions that will improve patient mobilization safely and effectively. The American Association of Critical Care Nurses and the Society of Critical Care Medicine endorse the ABCDEF bundle as a patient and family-centered approach to facilitate early mobility and manage patients’ pain, sedation, and delirium in the ICU. Phases of mobilization described in this program include goals and interventions to safely progress mobilization of the patient.
