Description
People need nutrition to live. When a person can’t eat enough because of an illness, disability, or some type of surgical procedure, nutrition must still be provided. Enteral nutrition (EN) is one method for ensuring proper and adequate nutrition is obtainable. Enhancing healthcare providers understanding of recommendations, guidelines, treatment options, and new technologies is important to improve outcomes for patients who need enteral nutrition. This course discusses information relevant to enteral nutrition, access, device selection, and placement. It also discusses initiatives to end misconnections and details ways to prevent misplacements and other potential complications. It highlights key points that will help nurses educate themselves, their peers, and their patients about how to select the right tube at the right time while ensuring enteral nutrition is successfully delivered.
