Description
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) defines hazardous drugs as a group of drugs that cause specific health effects (eg, cancer or birth defects) or are highly toxic at low doses. Many chemotherapy drugs are considered hazardous, and healthcare workers (HCWs) must take measures to minimize their exposure to these agents.
