Description
Surgical site infections (SSIs) place a massive burden on healthcare systems internationally. The overall goal of surgical incision management is to provide a bacterial barrier until re-epithelialization has taken place and the wound is physiologically closed. Multiple aspects of incision care must be considered to ensure the best possible surgical outcome. Evidence based guidelines and strategies related to the prevention of SSIs across the perioperative continuum will be discussed. The goal of this program is to educate a broader audience on advanced incision management strategies to reduce the incidence of SSI.
Please note: Continuing medical education (CME) credit will not be awarded for this continuing education activity. A certificate of attendance is available for physicians who complete the program.
