Description
Surgical site infections (SSIs) represent a significant cause of morbidity, prolonged hospitalization, unplanned readmissions after surgery, and death in the United States. As the costliest healthcare‐associated infection (HAI),SSIs are responsible for an estimated annual cost of $3.3 billion dollars. As the number of operative procedures continues to rise along with an increased focus on value-based care, SSI prevention is imperative for healthcare organizations. Evidence-based and innovative strategies are available to reduce the risk of SSI. The goal of this program is to educate a broader audience on advanced strategies to decrease the incidence of SSI to reduce cost of care and improve patient outcomes.
