Surveillance in the COVID-19 pandemic has faced a number of unprecedented challenges compared to other public health surveillance and reporting of diseases including testing issues, travel restrictions, and asymptomatic spread. This session will discuss how COVID-19 has impacted the approach to hospital-acquired infections (HAIs) through surveillance and identify best practices for new standard work related to respiratory precautions. A panel discussion with three infection preventionists from across North America will share challenges and related to COVID-19 surveillance in their healthcare facilities.
